Announcing: The Psychogenealogist

This new site explores the spaces where psychology, genealogy, and history converge – one story at a time.

As a professional psychologist I am interested in other peoples’ stories. As an amateur genealogist I am interested in primary my own. I hope The Psychogenealogist will inspire you to learn about and tell your own family story. I draw heavily on my own  genealogical story as a guide.

“If you don’t recount your family history, it will be lost. Honor your own stories and tell them too. The tales may not seem very important, but they are what binds families and makes each of us who we are.”

– Madeleine L’Engle

If you’ve ever asked yourself the following questions then this site is for you:

  • Where did I come from?

  • How did my ancestors shape my personality?

  • What can I teach my children about our family roots?

  • How did historical events impact my family tree?

  • Where do I start to explore my personal history?

  • What are my family’s secrets? Why and where are they kept?

The Psychogenealogist Blog includes stories, tips, and information to suit all of your psychology, genealogy, and history needs. Here are just a few recent examples:
